Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors the first inhabitants of this land. It is important to honor and give thanks to the first stewards of this land, but is also important to recognize the harm in celebrating the colonization and mass genocide of Indigenous People through Columbus Day.

On Indigenous People’s Day we encourage you to learn more about the Duwamish Tribe, the indigenous people of the Renton and Tukwila land. A great way to honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day is to Pay Rent to the Duwamish Drive.
