Lila grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended Middlebury College in Vermont, graduating with a Bachelors in Hispanic Sociolinguistics. She has always been passionate about equity, community building, and bringing culturally responsive practices into education. Lila has worked with young people in a variety of settings including as a paraeducator in Vermont, a substitute teacher in Seattle, and an English teacher at a bilingual school in Bogotá, Colombia. From her classroom teaching, Lila brings an appreciation of the connections between a student’s overall well-being and their ability to thrive in an academic setting. She also has experience working as an advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence and uses her knowledge of trauma-informed practices to guide the work she does at CIS.
In her free time, Lila enjoys being active outdoors, exploring new places in Seattle and abroad, learning about different cultures, reading novels, and baking delicious food to share with people she cares about.
