Program Overview
Our mentor program matches students in grades K-12 to volunteer mentors with the aim of creating a space to build transformative relationships that are key to unlocking a student’s potential. Mentee success is bolstered by a variety of factors, all of which play a significant part in a mentee’s engagement and development.
Along with our school-based Site Coordinator and school staff, the mentor becomes part of the team of people who work to empower students to define the future they want.
We offer both one on one and small group options.
Whom We Support
This program focuses on students who have been, and continue to be, furthest from educational justice. Our mentees model resiliency as they move through a system that was not designed to support students of color or from low-income backgrounds. By cultivating these transformative relationships, students build a lasting network of trust that allows them to fuel their personal potential.
The Mentor’s Role
The mentor’s main purpose is to be a consistent caring adult. By sharing fun activities and exchanging ideas, mentors help create a space where mentees can grow and prepare to clear their own path to success. Becoming a mentor begins by recognizing the importance of CISR-T’s core values and how they are foundational to being a mentor.
